Auditions for main parts 1 - your own short item
We'd like you to present a short (any length under 3 minutes) item - by yourself or with a friend. This item can be anything at all - it could be a song,
a dance, a poem, a skit, a piece of dialogue from a play, a joke, some magic, etc. We're simply looking for you to present something you are comfortable with - we're looking at the presenting, not the content. Only do something from Seussical itself if you know it well - we'd prefer something unrelated if you are more confident with that. We'll try to make it as relaxed as possible - but we do need to video it, as we have to compare performances from over a dozen audition evenings.

Auditions for main parts 2 - sing along with a chorus song
|
As part of the audition evening we're asking you to sing along with a small extract from the first chorus "Oh, the thinks you can think" - we're looking for changes in expression for the different characters. If you took part in our launch, please note that one line of this song is different - the monkeys' line is now the general's.
Think of an elephant up in a tree
Think of a person too tiny to see! Think of a bird with a one-feather tail Going on adventure down a dangerous trail! Think a bird who flies off on a spree! Think of a kangaroo, sour as can be! Think of a general crazy for war! Think of something horrible and hairy! Something sinister and scary That you never dared to think of before! |
Auditions for main parts 3 - take turns to read some script
We'll only read enough of this dialogue to get an idea of how each person is able to present a character. This scene from near the end of the show actually has music underneath it in the play, and a few chunks are sung - but we're just reading it 'as is' for the audition evenings.

4 - tell us which characters
Are there some characters you'd prefer to play than others?
Are you looking for solo singing, group singing, no singing? Would you prefer a large, medium or small part? |
